Beware of that Regscrub,I.ve used it before, it also deletes files that should not be deleted. I had to reinstall some of my registry files afterwards. I would strongly advise not to use this program. unless you know whats being deleted. Using the issues button on C Cleaner. that does most jobs, and easy to put back. This is the link to CCleaner Clicksky

i have dsl .. this problem has gone on for a week..

the help i got from this thread helped a little.
also i did all aol said. and my processes are fine. i have gobs of memory too.

i have no adons no virus .. only thing different i downloaded many siggys into phgoto bucket. and upgraded to ie 7 didnt like that so i went back to 6

i want to know how to save the contents on my hard drive to a disk. just incase.
Well for starters.... it is my humble opinion.... ok and the humble opinion of a few others I know.... that AOL sucks.... and therefore should not be used. So that would be my first big suggestion. They have multiple probs with pages loading plus they are heavy on the adware.... which is their major flaw.

I agree IE 7 is a load of crap.... personally I use Mozilla Firefox tho.

Also do you have an adware or spyware remover?!? Very much so needed tool. My fave is called "crap cleaner". Here are the needed links for it.....

Link to info on the program:
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Link to download the program at filehippo:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

The other suggestion I have is.... if you have added some sort of program lately that is heavy on adware or spyware it needs to be removed.... there are many "toolbars" out there that do nothing but slow a system down.... I had to go into add/remove programs the other day to remove something called "hotbar" off my friend's computer 'cause it was lagging so badly. Cool search is another that lags computers real bad. Also there are weather programs that show on your system tray that have quite a bit of spyware and adware to 'em that just slow computers down. Cool search is one of 'em that I know is complete crap. Also I've downloaded free versions of like Kazaa and whatnot and that lagged my puter badly as well.... lots of them have far too much adware/spyware to really be worth anything. Oh and another one I recall lagging my puter was smiley central.... I really dislike that program as well.

At any rate.... sorry I tend to ramble.... some call me Rambling Rose. If anyone still isn't figuring out what is wrong with their slowed down system and wants some sort of assistance you can IM me on MSN messenger and I can actual have ya do a remote assistance and I can then access your computer files to see what's going on. And I am honest and trustworthy and all that jazz.... I would never try to fudge up someone's puter.

Link to IM me is over yonder....
<---------------

I'm not always on so patience.... :

Hey dear....

He's got a point.... some of the registry cleaners will do this.... personally I have not used any of the ones listed on "imnotageek.com" so I can't give you any experience info.... but if any of you are worried about it saving a backup is a good idea.

And funny thing..... ya posted crap cleaner right b4 me while I was typing out my rambling.... : that's what that C stands for... crap! heh. And I agree, it is a good program. I've never saved a backup on it b4.... have never had a problem with deleting anything I didn't not need. Also there is a add/remove feature for programs and I noticed it actually lists more programs on ccleaner then it does on my XP add/remove application. So there's another strong point.... not to mention it will automatically tell you when there is a newer upgraded version to download.... which I just did. :

And my dear Kipper.... you need one of these....

That was How I noticed my registry was shot. I scanned for issues with Ccleaner, then when i fixed the issues it put an icon on my desktop. well it should look like this But it was a dat file instead. I asked my mate the computer buff, and he said my registry was corrupt and told me how to fix it. I then ran Ccleaner again and the file was ok. Went to regscrub, ran that again and the same thing happened, corrupted the registry.
So beware of regscrub, i used regscrubs back up system but registry remained corrupt.
See you're not the only one who can ramble Lady D. And always nice to have hugs from you.
