Kathy....I know nothing about Roadrunner...but I do use Verizon DSL...and I am very happy with the speed and virtually no problems.....:-)  Quote:

VERIZON DSL BY FAR MY FRIEND HAD VERIZON DSL AND HE SWITCHED TO ROADRUNNER AND HE SWITCHED BACK TO VERIZON DSL IF YOU WANT SOMETHING SUPER FAST LOOK INTO VERIZON FIBER OPTIC Quote:

There is no simple answer to the question. Mike is right when he says fiber-optic is capable of much higher speeds. Many cable companies use fiber-optic connections extensively, so they CAN offer higher speeds than normal telephone lines in some circumstances.
Unfortunately that base technology is rarely the answer to your question, because each varies according to the locality they are serving. My daughter lives a mile from me, but her phone lines are capable of faster speed, because my phone line is connected with older, lower quality, wiring. However, I get a faster data speed, because I use a different DSL supplier, who doesn't share their servers between so many customers. The only true answer to your question is obtainable from someone who REALLY knows your locality, down to street level! Sadly, the people who do know that will rarely tell you, because that will be your telephone company, who have a vested interest in NOT supplying full information. They would have to admit that not many customers get the advertised data speed.

Kathy, I have road runner. Verizon dsl is not available where I live,and it's close to you :p
Road runner is pretty dang fast,but it costs $45 a month. And after you've been with them for awhile,they offer to speed you up even more for a extra $5 a month. If you can get DSL in your area,and is cheaper, I would try that first, or call Best Buy and ask them which they think is faster.

I have the Verizon DSL now. We had an offer for the Roadrunner, and I was just curious if it was faster. I'm going to stick with my DSL......

IF YOUR 1 YEAR SUBSCRIPTION IS RUNNING OUT VERIZON HAS A SPECIAL FOR 14.99 PER MO. FOR 1 YEAR MINE JUST RAN OUT ON MAY 10TH AND I WAS PAYING 17.99 NOW AFTER RENEWING I HAVE THE SAME THING FOR 3.00 A MO. CHEAPER EVERY LIL BIT HELPS LOL Quote:
